Honey Crisp here are $1 each but just like you, we don't waste them and they are gone quickly -- right down to as much of the core as possible. I haven't tried any for baking, there's never any left long enough to bake with. I can't remember how many bags of apples I've bought only to get them home and find them to be mushy, horrible tasting AND thrown out.

Oh, you're welcome! I will look for the "Champagne Apples" because I think I would like them if they're any thing like the Honey Crisp. If I had an orchard of my own, Honey Crisp would definitely be one of the main kind I'd grow.

Those Honey Crisp apples sound good!
Another apple to look for is "Champagne Apples" -deeelicious!. They don't have them here but my momma ships me a box from New Mexico every year. My children really like them -out of 25 apples I only got 2!

The plastic containers made it easy to keep them upright and I can wash them out and reuse too.

Lettuces are growing well but I don't have pics and haven't cut any to eat yet. Hope to do both soon.
